Vista Compatible External Sound Cards

I recently upgrarded to Vista and the old "Starlogic" USB 5.1 external sound
card that I used with XP doesn't seem to be working right with the Vista. I
get perfect sound w/o the external card pluged in. Then when I plug the card
in I only get sound out of 1 channel. I am using this external sound card to
Dj, so I am running 1 channel for 1 mixer and the other channel for the other
mixer. I was just wondering if there is any External sound cards that are
known to be compatible with Vista. I have hooked the "Starlogic" back up to
another computer that is still running XP and it is still working correctly,
so I can rule out the "Starlogic" as being bad, just not Vista compatible.
Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My Edirol UA-25 (I think i is a UA25) works no problem in Vista and
XP. Never have been able to get it to work under Linux. Have you
grabbed the Vista drivers for the Starlogic?

Yes, I did get the drivers when I first hooked the Starlogic up to the
computer with Vista installed. But they didn't seem to be working right. I
am going to try dumping the drivers and reloading them and see if anything
changes. If not, where did you get the Edirol UA-25 at and how much? Thanks
for the input.

I have the 32 bit version of Vista, I will check the Creative soundblaster
site to see if it is also compatible with the 32 bit version since it works
with your 64 bit. Thanks.

It (Edirol UA-25) is fairly low-end, but for my needs it works well. I
think it was under $150 canadian. 2 inputs (XLR or TRS), two outputs,
direct monitor, phantom power and limitor.

Thanks, I tried dumping the drivers and reloading them, with no such luck. I
will check out the Edirol UA-25 and see if that fixes the problem. I haven't
found a store around here that has that brand yet, but I have also looked
into a Creative Soundblaster External Sound Card that says that it is Vista
compatible. Either way, I thank you for your input and hopefully by the end
of the week I will have the system back up and running.

Finnally found my problem. Part the sound card and the other part the
program. I ended up with the Creative soundblaster live 24-bit external 5.1
channel. It works great. But then I found out that the WDM drivers in vista
are single channel sound and the ASIO drivers are multi channel sound. The
program am using only supports WDM drivers which is no help to me. Unless
Vista comes out with WDM multi channel drivers, I am going to have to get a
new program to dj with.

Thanks for all the input,
The Jester
