5.1 surround sound question

I have a Soundblaster Augidy 2 ZS card. For some reason I can only get
2-channel sound when using Vista (the sound test puts the other channels
into front left/front right). The option to select the speaker setup is fine
(I've set it to 5.1 speakers). I used the beta driver from Creative's
website but also tried it with the XP driver, which works properly on my XP
installation.

I'm guessing it's because the driver compatibility hasn't been sorted
properly yet but could there be another reason?

Did you try uninstalling the game port and let Vista find it again after
you'd installed the Creative drivers? Ah, thought not.

Creative's current drivers don't support anything other than stereo as far
as I'm aware. A lot of people have only been able to get one channel
working. Compared to a lot of people you're lucky to even have sound with a
Creative card.

Creative *still* haven't released updated drivers since November.

I get the same thing with my Audigy. I used the KX drivers and only got
sound from the sub and the rear channel. I later installed the Creative
Vista drivers (for an older version of Vista). I got a BSOD with that, but
after restarting the computer, I get sound from the front channels now and
there's even a configuration option for 5.1 now, but now I can't get sound
from the rear channel without using my control pod (on my Logitech Z-680's)
to change it to 'Movie'. The mic jack is showing up now also, but I haven't
tried it yet nor have I tried stability when resuming from 'sleep'.

And yes, I can now get sound when I resume from 'sleep'. The microphone
also works.

Hi

You say that you have set soundcard to 5.1. Is that the creative setting as
you will also have to set it in control panel/audio devise/then click on the
soundcard listed there and adjust speaker layout on the configuration tab.

That got 5.1 working for me using AC97

Hope this is of help
