recommended sound cards for vista

I've tried an onboard ac-97 (realtek, i think) chipset (from an asus
p5n32sli se deluxe) and a soundblaster live 5.1 pci card. I've tried all
sorts of drivers for both and I get all sorts of problems like bsods, no
sound from some speakers, distortion, helper apps crashing, etc. Can anybody
tell me of an audio card that works 100% with vista, so that I can just buy
it and be done with? I've heard all sorts of stories about recent sound
blaster hardware not working and vista drivers still in beta. So, if someone
could tell me a setup that they know works then that would be great!

I've seen another post on here asking about vista compatible cards. Seem he
didn't get much of a reply to that. Surely microsoft tested sound on vista
right? Surely there is at least one sound card that works 100% right? Please
tell me that!?!

Thanks,

Yes I have tried those drivers. Sometimes I can only hear the subwoofer and
sometimes there is some serious distortion with those drivers (depending on
the speaker profile). At least they don't make a bsod though!

Any other ideas?

I don't think you'll find one. I have the same onboard sound you do, and
even with the vista drivers, you get popping. My SB Extreme Music is the
same...tho mostly it makes popping noise when skipping to next song. I get
no blue screens. Vista apparently changed the way drivers can access
resources, so it may take awhile for "great" drivers to come out.

Find a card with HD sound. Microsoft's built in driver works fine and the
new Realtek driver works fine for built in HD sound.
