Vista Beta 2 and Xbox 360

Has anybody been able to set up an xbox 360 has a media center extender in
Beta 2? My Xbox 360 is detected but after entering the 8 digit code and
choosing options setup fails with a "PC Configuration error". Could this be
because the pc is joined to a domain? Is there a way to fix this problem and
will the shipped vista be able to be joined to a domain and use an xbox 360
extender?
Thank you

If you are in the UK, Xbox 360 will function as an Media Center Extender in
all locales at Windows Vista launch (the
staged roll-out only supports North America and is being done to ensure
that the beta program is as successful as possible.

So I don't think its being Joined to a Domain thats causing this, since you
can log in as local in Vista too.

In Windows Media Center 2005 you can't connect extender devices if your MCE
PC is joined to the domain since extender devices make use of terminal
services/fast user switching which is disabled if your PC is joined to a
domain.

I'm not sure if this restriction/limitation has been removed in Vista. So
I'd suggest leaving the domain and try again and see if that works.

How can I connect my XBox360 (French) to vista beta2 ?

I'll try to use it as a MCE Extender... but, I'm always getting "Invalid
region" error :(

Thanks for your help.

I just tried agai nafter leaving the domain and it worked without problems.
After joining again I could not connect and setup failed as before. Does
anybody known of a work-around or if this will be a problem in the final
build of Vista Ultimate?

Two of the editions do, "Ultimate" and "Home Premium". So if you install
either of those you'll have Media Center functionality.

Yes I downloaded Vista beta2 from MSDN and received an "Ultimate" product
key and after installing it you have all the Media Center functionality
available.

Read the rest of this thread for answers about Media Center, Vista and
xbox360.

As long as there are Vista compatible drivers for your WiFi card then there
is no reason you can't use your WiFi from your notebook.

Be very careful, as the MCE version included with this Beta only supports
region 1, which is US. If you own an Xbox that isn't in that region (for
example a UK Xbox) then the MCE will not connect to your Xbox as it complains
about different regions.

I did the same and have lost all my Media Connect functionality that I used
to have with XP at the moment.

I am in the UK, running the 64-bit version of Vista Beta 2 and also cannot
get past the "Wrong Region: This disc's region code is incorrect for this
console" when trying to set up my Xbox 360 as a Windows Media Extender - When
I installed Vista Beta 2 I set up my region as United Kingdom and my XBox 360
is a UK purchased box (not an import).

Does anybody know of any support updates, patches, etc? This is why I took
part in the beta programme, to use the Media Centre functionality.

Thanks.

I have the same problem. I have a dutch xbox360 region2 PAL. On every forum I
read it said that MS does not offer region2 support for the xbox360 yet in
Vista. Also build5384.4 does not work. I'm really looking forward to vista
with the Xbox360
