Vista Basic Theme not available anymore

K

Kermyt

Using my computer as normal, surfing, gaming, music etc. Then yesterday when
booting up i noticed the desktop theme had changed to windows classic, not
liking this i went into personalize and tried to change it back. However it
no longer exists on the list.

I have already used system restor to take me back one week and still no joy.

Any ideas.

Thank you in advance.

Hey there Kermyt,

If you get this post twice I apologize.

It sounds like you might have a Video Card Driver issue. Sometimes if
there's a failure in the driver, it causes Vista to think that your card
isn't capable of supporting the Aero interface.

I would recommend going to the Video Card manufacturer's website and
downloading the latest drivers for your card. ATi and Nvidia update their
drivers every couple of weeks and Intel updates theirs on a regular basis as
well.

After installing the updated driver, reboot and enable Aero.

Let me know if this helps!

Best Regards,

Will

Thank you ALL for your very prompt replies.

Video card fully up to date. The winner with the correct answer was Mr
Feguson. For some reason it had disabled itself. No reason known why, but hey
ho.

Amazing how such a little thing annoys us so much that we spend 4 hours
before work trying to sort it. Ha ha ha.

cheers again guys.
