Hi, I installed Vista 64 bit Ultimate. By defualt it has the vista theme. I
changed it to classic theme for couple of weeks. Went to change the theme
back to vista and it's gone. No where to be found. I have also run into this
with XP but never could figure out how to get it back. ANyone help? Thanks

you might need to refresh your Windows Experience
Index (WEI) rating.

1. Click Start

2. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, hit enter

3. Click the Update my score link

4. Click Continue on the User Account Control dialog

the file aero should still be there in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder.
pls check.

also ensure that you have 'enabled transperancy'. rt click on desktop >
personalization > windows colour & appearance.

ensure transperancy is 'on' and click on the aero file in the themes folder
and apply the Vista themes which appears in the drop down menu.

hope it helps.

In XP you can make sure that the Themes service is running. I am not sure
what the equivalent is in Vista at the moment, but it most probably has
Themes or Aero in the name.

Well, the OP seems to know what they are doing (Went to change the theme
back to vista and it's gone).

But sometimes you actually have to open the Themes applet under Personalize
and click in the Themes list box and select AERO Glass.
