Vista and Excel 2007 - Excel crashes all the time

Hello,

I cannot work with Excel 2007 any more. because it is crashing all the time.

my german version (i do not want this version, but o.k.) says all the time
"Microsoft Office Excel funktioniert nicht mehr" .. what means, that Excel
is not working any more.

And unfortunately it crashes whatever I do. I cannot tell you specifically
what might the problem be. Windows tries to find a solution in the internet,
but - of course - do not succeed.

Is there something I can do about this? I really need Excel and I do not
what I should do now!

By the way... does anyone really like the new excel? I do not find anything.
It is really not intuitive. I was really good with the old excel but the new
one it´s only annoying, I think.

regards

Hi Timo,

Check whether Excel is activated:

Office button, Excel options, Resources tab, click the "Activate" button.
If it says it has been properly activated I stringly suspect you need to remove
Office entirely and then reinstall.

first of all: thanks...

I checked it, and my version is activated. But I have to check if I am able
to remove office entirely and then to reinstall it, because I am right now in
London and I do not know, whether I have the Install-DVDs here.

I have to check it first...

P.S.: one short questions. If I develop an application in Java and it
crashes (not a normal behavior of my programs) I am able to deliver an error
message from the system. Why Excel tells me, that it is unknown, why the
application terminates abnormally?

This does not help but I too suffer the same problems. Constant crashes throughout the day when I hit the save button and sometimes when I do not!. I have been sending off error reports to Ms but to no avail. I have one spreadsheet (amoung many) which I know will crash the system, it has a lot of VB code behind it but always compiles without any error messages. I am beginning to think there is a linkage problem between the main code and software librarys.

No doubt you have already ensured that you have installed all critical
updates from Microsoft Update.

You didn't mention what version of Excel (it always helps).

It's useful to look at the data behind the error report dialog (and at
least note the module in which the error occurred and the address).
Sometimes that can help track down the culprit.

Some people have reported crashes in Excel 2007 apparently linked to
having a COM add-in associated with Bluetooth. Would be worth seeing
if it is related to your problem. To get there:
Excel > Office button > Excel Options > Add-ins > Manage: COM Add-ins >
Go
