Just tried the latest beta... its trash! They made so many changes in the
GUI with no apparent reason.. seems they just had to change things so they
could say that vista is different.. but the changes only made it harder to
use... At least they could have an option to revert to the old way of doing
things...

its horrible!

I hope they fix up their act or their sales will go down the drain when
vista comes out.

Oh and the messenger live beta? Another bloated peice of trash...

What are those programmers thinking???

Perhaps staying with XP is not such a bad idea after all......

If you are an authorized Vista beta tester, then you
should be posting your comments in the appropriate
Vista beta newsgroup.

FYI: Beta means a work in progress....not a finished product.

And did you post your comment to the Vista beta newsgroups? What's that,
you don't have access to them? Wonder why that is...

Too bad!

But you're right. Vista IS a flop. I wish that they had gone back to the
drawing board and developed a totally new operating system, one that has no
support for legacy software built into it. Then, and maybe only then, will
we be able to get a secure operating system. You would have to buy all new
programs and hardware that conformed to the new O/S of course.

It's the backward compatibility that is hurting us so much. Code that has
been around since Windows 3.1 is now being exploited.

It's too bad that people like you would have to learn from scratch - but I'm
sure that you would prevail.

Hey! Apple did it a few years back. And in doing so they trashed almost
every program that people owned. Most would not function on the new
operating system at all. And people learned and survived.

Welcome to beta software.

In my opinion Vista & Office 12 are gonna rock. 8-)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't know what's more pathetic,
you thinking that your single opinion of a beta (better known as a work in
progress) is of any interest to the newsgroup, or that someone who obviously
has not legally obtained a copy of the beta would have any credibility with
anyone. If I went back to messages when XP was just foing into beta, I'm
sure I could have found many of the same comments from other little minds.
Look how much influence they had on the success of XP.

Not to suggest that you don't have the right to post your opinion, but in
the future you might want to keep comments like "its horrible!" and "I hope
they fix up their act or their sales will go down the drain when vista comes
out." to yourself. As someone once noted, "Better to sit quietly and have
people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Mac users survived because there were only five of them.. :-)

Backwards compatibility will always be an issue because nobody has the funds
or 'machine down time' available to make huge changes.. (not applicable to
the remaining four users of Macs)..

In fairness to Vista, what did everybody expect?.. HAL 9000 Home Edition, or
Orac Pro (Blake's 7 fans will know what Orac was)?

The latest beta? Hell, that's 4-5 months old. We are now on CTP 5270 and it
seems fairly stable. Maybe you should test the latest version to get a
continuing impression as to how it is progressing.

But, if you can't adapt to change then stay with what you know. It is a
learning curve that some may not be able to handle (-:

Kenny;
Your generalizations are all but worthless.
Assuming you do have legitimate issues, which I doubt, you should post them
in the appropriate newsgroups.
In case you did not notice, this is a Windows XP newsgroup, not a Vista
newsgroup.
Vista is a Beta, that means it is not complete.

As for "staying with XP", very few would suggest migrating from a released
OS to a Beta.

You say "latest beta", exactly what version?
Where did you get it?
Again the details you leave out leave more questions than problems you may
have with Vista.

Perhaps this is a better option for you:

You do not need Windows!

Well how come MickeyMouse doesn't call XP Pro a beta release. It is
certainly still a "work in progress" when you look at all the insecurities
that keep coming up and the patches.

And the reason he or she cannot post here is? Although I am not an
autorised Vista beta tester, I found his or her post interesting, much
more interesting than your boilerplate lies.

What is MickeyMouse? Do you think you're being funny?

I think he got it from this:

"I might smoke dope, jump rope, drink wine, have a good time, but I
don't play that MickeyMouse sh}t."

Heh.

Actually I expected.....

Computer?
Working.

<grin>

It's too early to give a Thumbs Up or Down on it. Remember Vista is
based on Server 2003 codebase so Microsoft is finally doing what so
many folks want - A rewrite. Most of the benefits will be Under the
hood and not GUI based (Visible).
Once it becomes "Feature Locked", then maybe you can start with
analysis/griping about the changes.

It may be a "work in progress" but you're obviously "a piece of work".
Try going back to someplace they want you.

Vista is a Beta, that means it is not complete.

Jupiter....

I said that I hope they clean up their act.... the interface has problems
big time.
I am not talking about glitches because it is beta, I am talking about
design, meaning
what actions a user has to do to accomplish a task.

Someone from MS said that the "Vista look" will not change much from this
latest beta. I am sure that if they dont change it, they will be in
trouble...
the users will hate it. Therefore if they continue in this design then it
has nothing to
do with beta or no beta... its bad I tell you... :-) Have you tried it?

I am sure that they will get the same feedback from the beta testers.... and
they will
go back to the things that worked.

I did not post here by mistake.. I wanted the users of XP to know what I
think of the vista beta. Since I am a regular here, and help many people.. I
think that some might be interested in my opinion.

I do not want any other OS than windows.... I expect more from microsoft...
I expect only perfection.

I never said that they should scrap everything. Windows is the best OS.
We need compatibility with older programs.

However when you design a GUI you have to have in mind that there will be a
lot
of people scratching their heads if they continue the design as it is now.

They removed the task panes.... and an easy way to see the folders like you
do in
windows explorer... and the toolbars on IE7 cannot be modified... and and
and...
I could go on and on...

I am sure they will get the same feedback from others, and they will fix
these problems.... I just wanted to complain openly.. :-)

I am commenting on the beta as a beta, not a beta as a finished product.

I never said that the final vista would be bad.

I am waiting to see what they will do next.
