Hi,

Microsoft trend virus scan, found a virus named
webblaster and identify the place of this virus
as 'c:\system volume information\_restore{b37680b2-ba0a-
4e5d-bf30....' and goes on.

Does the computer need to be formatted or is there a cure
for this virus?

Thanks

Turn off system restore and turn it back on. This will have the effect of
wiping out the virus becuase it is saved in a system restore point and doing
this will delete you system restore points. Make a new restore point
afterwards.

Open My Computer, right click on your C: drive, select
properties. Then select disk cleanup and on the page that
opens, click the more tab. Then select to remove all but
the last restore point. Click OK. Then run your virus scan
again. The virus is in your system restore.

Do a search on Norton's website or McAfee's for removal
instructions if that doesn't fix the problem. You may have
to turn system restore off, run your virus scan and when
you're clean, reboot and then turn system restore back on.

Did you mean Trend Micro anti-virus?

Did you mean MSBlaster worm?
