I have picked up this virus and my virus scanner does not find it. I use AVG by Grisoft. I deleted the files that it created but the following message keeps popping up:

Well, there's a big clue at the end of your post:

Version: 6.0.532 / Virus Database: 326 - Release Date: 27/10/2003

Try updating AVG's definitions. A new set was released 01 Nov-03.

The virus is stored in a system restore point. You'll probably need to
delete the restore point(s) to get past this - you so not want them if they
are infected, anyway. Look up in Help and Support under System Restore for
instructions on removing restore points, or disabling and re-enabling System
restore.

Clear your restore points, update virus definitions, so a full system scan.

If it's in restore , how did it get there ?? Is this some
kind of a false positive??

Hope this helps. Let us know.
Not all advice may be correct. Use common sense.

It's in restore because the system was infected when the restore point was
created. The A/V scanner missed it then, too.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same virus from the same
free virus software AVG. I'm beggining to think this virus came with
the free AVG download. I find it interesting that I suddenly have all
these viruses that I have never had before only after I downloaded
this free virus software that the viruses started to appear on my
computer. Sounds very fishy to me.

Turn off system restore and reboot....Turn it back on, then create a manual
restore point. "Turning off system restore erases all previous restore
points"
This will remove the virus from System Volume Information......

yes that did the trick, I must have downloaded those bugs from a free
screensaver website or something. :-)
