virus scanning.........freezing whilst in progress

hi............can anyone help me please...........I received a email that
norton had stopped the file from being opened as it was
contaminated..........I did a virus scan after I deleted the email but the
scan keeps freezing ............i have tried numerous times with the same
result...........i did a live up date of my norton and also did a restore on
my commputer but still have the same problem ......... hope some one out
there can help me please

Reboot in SAFE MODE and run you scan again, you should also run AdAware
to check for other malicious applications.
