Virus scan lasts a LONG time

I have a Gateway laptop, running Vista Premium, and it's about 4 months old.
I also have Zone Alarm security suite running. When it scans for spyware,
it's relatively quick...but when it scans for viruses...it can last a long
time. Just today, it scanned and it took 3 hours and 45 minutes. To me,
that's long! And it's not like I have a lot on the computer. I have much
more on my XP desktop, I use ZA security suite on it as well, and it's MUCH
quicker. Is there something I'm doing wrong, or is almost 4 hours normal?
