Virus scan freezes

Hi. My computer has been running poorly - freezing and running slower than
usual. Whenever I scan for viruses it freezes once it gets to the file
C\I386\INETCFG.DLL
Any ideas? I'm pretty sure my virus scan is not too blame. Could it be that
the above mentioned file is causing the freezing? Can I replace or repair it?
I was going to reinstall Windows but it said the version on my computer is
newer than the one on the disk. I really hope I don't have to reformat my
computer and have to save all my file to disk so I don't lose them. Thanks so
much!

What virus scanner are you using?
Have you contacted the company that produced the scanner for help?
