I386 lock up

Hi
I have a unique problem with my computer. If I run a
virus scan using Norton Anti Virus it freezes up when
scanning a file in my I386 folder. The only way to
correct the problem is do a complete restart of my
computer.
Interesting enough if I perform a file by file scan of
the I386 folder, the computer freezes up when I encounter
the file "eudcedit.exe". Again computer completes locks
up. I have performed a complete defrag as well as a disk
check. Both have run to completion and indicated no
problem.

Does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this
problem and more importantly, what a solution would be?

Best solution would be to update your AV-program. Have you let the AV
program scan the file for some minutes, and check if it continues with the
next file after some thinking ?
