Hello,
I am new to XP embedded. I have a question on protection of system area
with EWF. But I am not sure whether EWF would protect the system area.
As I know EWF is used to protect write protected devices like flash.
Could someone provide me some information on virus protection of system
area using EWF if at all it is possible.

Thanks & Regards,
Shiju

Hi Shiju,

RAM EWF will protect partitions you select from being written to permanently. When you reboot all data will be lost, unless you
commit them by command and gracefully reboot.

With user credentials virus can do very little damage. (After reboot he will disappear).
With admin or system privileges virus can access disk and destroy MBR, etc, EWF will not protect you there.

For this kind of protection against hackers or viruses you will have to use third party hardware or software solutions.

Best regards,
Slobodan
