email from (e-mail address removed) is a fake with a virus
in the attached PATCH@EXE. I do not know how to send this
to Microsoft for analysis. the SUBJECT: Use the patch
immediately!

the body

Dear friend, use this Internet Explorer patch now! There
are dangerous virus in the Internet now! More than
500,000 already infected!

sounds like a fake but the email comes from
(e-mail address removed)

I could not find anything about this on the MS web site.
Where can I get information to make certain this did not
infect my computer. I found direction on the web but do
not trust the source.

Yeah, I've gotten like 10 emails today. About half are
from mircosoft addresses, but they've been different file
names, including patch.exe, and was sent to me way too
many times for me to trust it. The other half where email
delivery errors, from messages send with mircosoft email,
to various domains, none of which are even close to my
email. My guess is that someone has a bot or something,
stealing addresses off this board.
