VirtuMonde Removal ?

Steve

SpyBot S&D (with the latest updates) detected VirtuMonde on my computer, but was unable to remove it. Windows Defender does not detect VirtuMonde on my machine. I have Googled for removal tools and have not found one from a company that I recognize ... afraid of downloading an unknown removal tool that may install its own virus or adware. Can someone recommend a removal tool for VirtuMonde?

Thanks.

Check the actual detection--are you sure this isn't a false positive?

If you want name brand and safety, restart in safe mode with networking and run the online scanner (Microsoft's) at safety.live.com--and probably the latest Malicious software removal tool as well, from Microsoft.

I had virtumonde virus in December. I had no internet, my desktop was
changed, windows taskpane was disabled along with system restore. I tried
everything the only software that was able to remove it was combofix.
Malwarebytes was able to remove a portion of it but the virus kept re-adding
itself. Combofix deleted the registry files and then my computer was
restored. Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
to find out more. Best of luck

I had virtumonde virus in December. It is a backdoor trojan and one of the
worst. When I signed on to my account the screen turned black and then my
desktop was
changed, I had no internet, windows taskpane was disabled along with system
restore. I tried including (including defenders and spybot) the only software
that was able to remove it was COMBOFIX. Malwarebytes was able to remove a
portion of it but the virus kept re-adding itself. I tried a lot of stuff
(Spysweeper scans, ZoneAlarm scans, editing registry files, deleting dlls:
but it kept coming back; the memory resident component kept repairing the
infected registry keys I deleted. In addition to taking control of IE,
Virtumonde also blocked calls to Microsoft updates! Combofix deleted the
registry files and then my computer was
restored. Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
to find out more. Best of luck ComboFix removes spyware, malware, trojans,
rogue antispyware and Vundo infections
You can also find out more about COMBOFIX from:
