VirtualDeviceDriver -- invalid?

Hello all...
For the last few days, only sometimes mind, when I'm
installing some software I get a very strange error
message that says...

"SYSTEM\CurrentContolSet\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD.
Virtual Device Driver format in registry is invalid.
Choose Close to terminate this application."

Can someone point me to a fix or an explanaiotn of same?
