I finally caved in and purchased virtual pc for my
powerbook in order to run a few windows programs not
available for mac. Is it necessary to partition the hard
drive to run both Windows and OSX? Are there benefits?

Hi David!

You won't need to partition your drive at all.

The entire Windows "disk" is actually stored in a disk image file that sits
on your Mac's disk. You can have as many disk images as you like and they
can be as large as you choose so long as your Mac's drive size can
accommodate the combined sizes of the files.

Hope this helps! bill
