It's roughly the same as VMWare in what it does.
Once you have installed Virtual PC softare on your pc, it enable's you to install another operating system on your pc, but within Virtual PC. Hard drive space is taken up, but no need to partition anything the software will do it for you, all roughly goes into the Virtual PC folder.

Sorry i cant explain it any better, i'm getting used to using it myself.

I'm not sure if I understand you Michael - are you trying to install Windows 98 within Virtual PC on Windows XP?

If so, you should mount the CD rom as an image in VPC2007 and then let it boot and install - you don't have to split your hard drive or anything like that.

This site should explain it in full, it's for VPS2004 but it's just the same :):

http://www.goodells.net/virtualpc/index.htm

Video of Win98 install under Vista :

I can't remember the exact place to mount the CD, but it's on an obvious menu at the top so it should be under "CD" and labelled "mount CD" or something similar from what I remember.

You can't get your current hardware to work in the Virtual PC, it uses a basic graphics driver which you can't change - no good for newer 3D games, but fine for very old games :)

Shame for VP2007 because alot of people wanted to play games like this.

Does,nt do much more than DOSBOX then.

That Moka 5 thingy might be worth a look as it recons that a Windows Live PC run from a Windows host can have 3D support with Moka Tools . Can't help any further as I'm using the Moka 5 Bare Engine to rejuvinate a semi dead laptop that won't let me load Windows on its own , but am also trying to integrate XP SP 3 aswell so I'm just a bit frazzled at the mo . Will start a new thread when I have the probs sorted . So far things look good .
