I installed a game CD and it says it will not run with virtual memory
disabled. How do I enable it?

System Properties> Advanced> Performance> Settings> Advanced> Virtual
Memory> Change.
Personally, I like the "let Windows manage" option. Important: click the
SET button and then OK.

The following MS Knowledge Base article is for the same error message (but
happens when starting Office). It does however include the same steps above
for getting to the virtual memory settings:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826513/en-us

NOTE: If you continue to get this message with a large setting for virtual
memory (or with letting Windows manage), your next avenue would be
contacting tech support for the game involved. Or post in windowsxp.games
newsgroup and mention the name of the game. Someone there may have run into
this problem with the same game and can help you get it installed and
running.

You should not have Virtual Memory disabled on your system. Even if you have
several GBs of Ram Windows itself needs a minimal allocation to run
effectively. Check this site to learn about Virtual Memory and how to manage
it http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm
