Can you setup a cf card with virtual memory if you have ewf set on? Or can
you even setup a cf with VM?

Yes you can, but due to cf card has a limited number of write cycle, it is
not recommended to have the paging file on the devices. Therefore if your EWF
is RAM reg, then there will be RAM overhead, since any changes will be store
in RAM
