Virtual memory settings ignored

Hi - Custom settings for paging file size are being ignored on my XP Pro SP2
system, with 1 GB RAM. The paging file is just kept at the "recommended" size
by XP whatever custom settings are made (whether larger or smaller than the
recommended size), despite the settings showing correctly in System
Properties and in the registry. The only setting recognised correctly is for
no paging file. Following re-boot after setting for no paging file, custom
settings are then recognised correctly, but are lost again on the next
re-boot. My system is a laptop and I have no Intel "Application Accelerator"
installed, just standard Intel ATA drivers. The behaviour is unchanged if all
non-essential startups are disabled in msconfig.

I have seen a few other threads describing similar behaviour, but no clear
fixes. Any insight into this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Mike.

The Intel "Application Accelerator" comes as part of certain Intel
drivers.

Check the Intel website for driver updates for your specific chipset
number.

Good luck

Thanks for this, Ron. Unfortunately it looks pretty tricky to sort out a
driver for the 855 chipset, but I'll give it a go. - Best regards, Mike.
