Hi.
I'm having an ongoing problem with the memory in my HP
Pav.8754c, 384 mbs, Intel Pentium III, running WindowsXP
Home Ed., version 2002, service pack I. It works fine
for days and then I get screen freeze or a
message "virtual memory is too low. WinXP is currently
{doing something} to ]expand] memory" (or something
similar). How can I fix this? Do I need more memory?
Many thanks. steve

Steve, rt click on MyComputer>select
Properties>Advanced>Performance-Settings>Advanced>Virtual Memory-change.
Click on Custom Size and type 900 in each box then select Set Ok. 512MB
of Ram is
better than 384MB but depending on what you use your computer for ie:
Video Editing and Graphic Intensive Apps what you have might not be enough.

It suggests to me that the most likely reason is that the initial size
set for the page file is too low for *your* workload. See discussion in
'How big a page file' at my page www.aumha.org/win5/a/xpvm.htm. See the
problems there also. It is also possible that you have some malware
that is continually eating memory, so go to
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm and use the tools linked from that,
in addition to antivirus scan with up to date virus definitions
