Virtual Memory for paging

Win XP Home Edition will from time to time increase my
virtual memory.
Control Panel/System/Advanced/Settings/Advanced/Virtual
Memory what settings (MB) are recommended (Max and Min)?

The recommended setting I've seen: Let Windows manage ....

If you want to set the MIN and MAX, please give us the RAM amount you have
installed.

Installed memory is 256MB. When Windows manages the

virtual memory it takes several minutes to boot up and
limited access to programs is denied.
