If scanning is locking up and you are getting this error, and therefor
cannot complete the scan and clean the machine, I'd suggest trying a
different route. Microsoft needs to get this fixed, so thanks for the
report--it'll help.
In terms of actually cleaning your machine, I'd try a different product.
Here's my suggestion for today:
http://housecall.antivirus.com This is Trend Micro's online antivirus
scanner which has been expanded to cover spyware and do an audit for
critical patches as well.
And, it cleans what it finds.
Please give this a try and let me know what it finds (leave out
cookies--just mention the significant stuff)
And--after cleaning with this online scan, go back and try Microsoft
Antispyware and lets see whether there's anything more.
