Viewing the Hotbar

John

Every time I open any Windows XP compatible application
window, I see the Hotbar. I want to permanently disable
viewing this toolbar. I use the "View...Hotbar" option to
turn off the Hotbar view. Sometimes I also select
the "Lock Toolbars" option. I have tried this in each
application and even tried the deactivation in Windows
itself, but whenever I exit the applications and come
back in, the Hotbar is back. How can I get rid of the
Hotbar once and for all?
Thanks.

Hi John,

First, scan the system for parasites and remove them. SpyBot S&D searches
your harddisk for Spyware and Adware
http://security.kolla.de/

&

Adaware (similar)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
(Remember to perform a Webupdate to have the latest definitions installed)

This will remove malware from the PC.

Get ToolbarCop:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/utils/ToolbarCop.exe

ToolbarCop removes the Toolbars, Toolbar buttons and unwanted
menu-extensions from Internet Explorer. It does not remove the spyware from
the system entirely. It is advisable to run Ad-Aware scan
(www.lavasoftusa.com), if the toolbar entries are not removed.
