Viewing pictures inside received email messages.

For the past couple of months, when I receive an email that has a picture
embedded in it, I only get the little red X in a box and cannot open it. My
settings are set to allow them so not sure how to fix it.

change the value 1 to 0 (zero) and it works"
 
Okay Genius :) Just how do I do this? Speak in simple language to a simple
person please.
