Outlook 2007: Can't embed pictures

Two PCs on our network - seemingly identical setups with WinXP and Office
2007. Same ISP.

One PC cannot send emails with an embedded (not attached) picture. Instead
of the picture, the recipient gets a rectangle with a red X and a title along
the lines of "cid:image001.jpg@..... (and a lengthy hex address).

I've spents HOURS verifying one Outlook setup vs. the other. Every setting
on every screen is the same. I've also verified that it's not account-based
by using an account that works on the "good" machine. I've also tried using
GMail. Same thing.

The offending PC can receive and view embedded emails just fine... and can
*FORWARD* those emails properly. It cannot either REPLY *or* send a NEW
message without having the image compromised and replaced by the "cid"
message.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Try emptying the Outlook Secure Temp folder, as described here:

Thanks. Tried that and found nothing (literally, nothing) on either the
machine that works and the one that doesn't. (yes, I did go the address bar
route). I even changed the location of the secure temp folder, to no avail.

I've shut down the A/V, the firewall, and almost everything else
concurrently running and the situation remains the same.

The ONLY difference between the two machines is that the problem machine is
a "virgin" Office install, as opposed to an upgrade from Office 2003.
