Viewing newsgroup messages

B

Bob

Running Windows Mail on Vista.
View setting is "Hide Read Messages"
I've been wondering why there has been no newsgroup activity for the last 2
days. I suspected there was a problem with my WM newsgroup accounts, so I
checked the newsgroups on my XP machine using OE6 and sure enough there has
been activity.

It seems that WM is marking all messages as read, although if I change to
"Show all messages" I still don't get to see them. Previously I have not had
any problem viewing messages.

Ideas please?

Click on Tools, then Options, then Read. If there's a check mark in the box
before Mark all messages as read when exiting a newsgroup, click on this
box, then Apply. Click on General. If there's no check mark in the box
before Send and receive messages at startup, click on this box, then Apply.
Click on OK.

Click on Tools, then Accounts, then your newsgroup account, then
Properties. If there's no check mark in the box before Include this account
when checking for new messages, click on this box, then Apply. Click on
OK, then Close.

Do this for each newsgroup you subscribe to: Right click on the newsgroup,
then click on Synchronization Settings. If the blue dot is before Don't
Synchronize, click on one of the other settings, such as New Messages Only.

That was the culprit. Somehow it got unchecked. Thanks.

Strange. I have accounts on 5 different news servers, and none have that
setting checked. Yet when I click on a newsgroup, all the headers for that
newsgroup download and appear within a matter of a few seconds.

It is strange, but I won't argue with success.
