viewing a programme from web

trying to access a web page that has a tv programme. when i click on part of
the programme that i want to view it asks me do i want to save or open, i
open but it then comes up with message "media player cannot play" cannot
support player or codec that was used to compress file. tried opening using
other programs but nothing will open it!!!!!
