View:Toolbars out of sync

When display the drop down menu the entries are mismatched to the expected
action: i.e. click "RoboForm" and "Google" toolbar appears/disappears so on
& so forth. Last entry is blank and click it the action for the just above
entry occurs. Problem first noticed when I removed the Ebay toolbar VIA
Add/Remove Programs. Ebay entry is still on dropdown. At this point the sync
problem starts.

Any ideas for correction?

It is not unheard of.
I have a friend who has a mismatch with Yahoo and Google bars
but she is quite able to manage the situation and told me not to
bother investigating.
No spyware, parasites or adware present. The machine was clean.

You can try this to see if the toolbars get reset:

or if you have the Google toolbar:
Go to http://toolbar.google.com/fixmenu and click on the "Reset IE's
Toolbar Menu" button.

Alan,
The Google toolbar fixmenu put the items back in sync and removed the blank
entry.
What does the registry merge do?

Open the .reg file in Notepad and you will see what it does.

It just deletes the value "ITBarLayout" from the key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser]
