Videos saved on my computer

I have many home videos, some in media center, some on my desktop, etc. I
don't think they are all saved in one format (some are .mov, but not all of
them). Is there a way to find all videos on my hard drive, no matter what
extension they have? I'd like to get them all in one place and burn a dvd.

Also, if they are in different formats, would I have to change them so
they're all the same format, or would I need to make separate dvd's for each
format type?

I am new at this, thanks for any help you can give me.

My immediate guess is that you will need to do a search for each extension
type; ie mpg, mpeg, avi, mov, and whatever else you think those movies are.
Once you've done each search you can either move them or copy them to your
movie folder.
There are many DVD programs on the market that will read different movie
formats. I know that Ulead Video Studio will read several formats. One of
the versatile others is Nero 6 and Nero 7. You can take different formats
and render one DVD that will play them all since now they have a common
format. What is even more helpful here is that many of these programs can be
downloaded free for fifteen or 30 days so you can get a good feel for them
before you plonk down your money.

An excellent resource to find out about the multitude of available DVD
rendering programs is http://www.videohelp.com/
