Video to PC?

Sam

Hi, I've been trying to record video to my PC from my video player, I've
made a few recordings but the audio sounds a little distorted (like having
the volume turned up too loud on a cheap stereo).
While prevewing it it sounds perfectly OK, just playback it sounds off.
I'm using the output SCART of a philips video recorder connected to the
'Video in' on a ATI Radeon 9800 All-in-wonder card.
As described in the instructions, I have output the audio from the 'Video
out' socket of the graphics card to the 'line-in' input of the sound card.
I'm using the ATi TV program for the capturing, with record quality set to
highest level (DVD).
Does anyone know where I could be going wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Sam:

Just a stab in the dark here, but MMC has no provision for adjusting
input level. However, you can set a lower value in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\Features\TV\Sound

Find the "Record Volume" key, and you'll probably find that the default
value is something like 842. Maximum value is 900; I have mine set at
409 DECIMAL value. I'd start there and see if it makes a difference.

Good Luck,

Open Volume Control, select Options > Properties, Recording, OK.
Adjust recording level.
