Video to PC to DVD

Hello all

I am not sure if this is the right place but..

What do i need to do to copy a video from my video player to my PC?? What cables/card/whatever do i need

I have Ulead VideoStudio 7 SE DVD to copy to DVD when i am finished...is that sufficient
