Video quality

I was using my webcam with MSN Messenger, but there was
lots of lag and choppy video. I then switched to Windows
Messenger and my video worked perfectly. In MSN Messenger
I used the "Send My Webcam" feature, I didn't try "Start a
Video Conversation", I didn't know they were 2 different
things. I have 2 questions:

1) Is "Start a Video Conversation" in MSN Messenger
exactly the same as "Start Camera" in Windows Messenger?

2)And if it is, for video quality (1 on 1), is there any
advantage either way.

1. Yes.
2. No real advantage, except that in MSN Messenger, you can make the window a tad larger,
albeit it simply just rescales the image, so it doesn't look any better.
