Video Quality deteriorates when saving to AVI

Actually Doug I was replying to "The Iambic Pen"
Hence the reason it is better to start a new thread instead of he/she
jumping into the middle of yours :)

I will read through this thread though and see if I can offer anything but
since Graham appears to be all over it I doubt I can say anything he didn't
already say.

Alright Doug I have caught up with your issue, I think.
I am also wondering if there is a codec problem or maybe simply a resources
problem causing quality to be lost when creating the DV-AVI.

Run a test if you could. Try saving a couple of them, preferably the ones
that were the worst as DV-AVI's, as High Quality NTSC and then view those in
your media player to see if the quality loss is there or not.

If you want to check into codec issues you can disable all the
codecs/filters in WMM and then try saving the video as DV-AVI. If there is a
codec installed that was causing a problem then maybe the problem will be
gone if the extra installed codecs are disabled.

Thanks Wojo,
I did try the HiQuality bit and it was a little worse than the AVI.

Now, how would I:
1. disable the codecs/filters?
2. restore the codecs/filters back to enabled?

Should I disable ALL the codecs? Wouldn't the Save Movie File process need
one??

Thanks,
Doug

Hi Doug
Click Tools -> Options
Click the [Compatibility] tab
Remove the checkmarks next to ALL the filters.
To restore them you simply need to check them again.
Try disabling ALL of them if it works then you can add them back in one by
one until you find the one that is causing the problem.
