Steve

I make video presentations for a number of different people so I try to use
the most ubiquitous codec on our computers is mpeg4v.1, so that's what I
use. Something happened during a service pack upgrade and mpeg4 no longer
plays. Has anyone experienced this? Any fixes out there?

Thanks.

Some of those SP and other upgrades and updates deprecate codecs that are
considered a risk for whatever reason. Only thing I can think is to rerender
with a more common codec.

Sorry.

Hola Steve & Echo:

I'm having the same problem of not seeing the videos on PP Presentations,
furthermore, my presentation freezes and I have to restart PP. I'm not too
savy with technical terms and would like to know what a codec is.

Thank you

Deprecate?

As in "discourage the use of" or as in "search and destroy"?

that are

Hmmm. There's nothing more common than MS mpeg4v.1. It's on every (or used
to be) Windows installation I've seen. MS did something in SP2 I believe.
It's strange. I tried v2 and it works, but the video that starts out as
broadcast quality is so pixelated as to be unviewable.

A codec is a co(coder) dec(decoder). You need something that can read the
codec you use on the box that is going to play the video.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

Ah, nuts. What's the word I was looking for there? Search and destroy would
describe it better. :-)

I don't know that MPEG4 is very compatible with PPT. I'd stick to MPEG1.

"Uninstall"?

That sorta covers it, no? ;-)
