Video in Powerpoint slow to play on projector

I have Windows XP and Office XP Pro. I have a PowerPoint presentation that
has an mpg file in it. The file entire presentation works perfectly
including the video until I plug a projector into the laptop. When it loads
the video, the laptop starts showing the mpg right away. The projector
turns to a blue screen for a few seconds and then starts playing the video.
Why the delay? Is there any way to fix this? It is important that people
see the video from the beginning. Also, the video doesn't display on the
projector like it does on the laptop. It seems to be stretched from the
original format. Thanks for any help!

Very unusual symptoms... I have encountered many video related problems, but
these are unique to me. First a few questions to help find a solution:
- What type of video are you playing (mpeg, QuickTime, avi)?
- Are you connecting directly to the projector or through a switch, scaler,
etc.?
- What kind of video card does your computer have (go to Control Panel,
Displays, Properties, Advanced, and one of the tabs should list the make -
model - amount of video ram). *most video playback problems are related to
the video cards capabilities.

- Lastly, do you get the same results if you use a different computer
running the presentation to that projector?

- How much ram does the computer have?
