Video Import Error

Help Needed!!! I have a JVC GR-D72us mini DV camcorder. Windows
MovieMaker2 will not capture the video from the cam using the USB cable, will
it work if I use an IEEE1394 cable?? so I use " ImageMixer 1.7 " the
software that came with the cam. I save the video as a mpeg file. When I try
to import the file into Windows MovieMaker2 I receive an error "pmg. is not
valid because it does not contain any information" The video will play in
Windows Media Player. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem or good
recommendations on video editing software that is as good or better than
Windows MovieMaker2 would be appreciated.

All should work fine if you connect using firewire, which will allow you to
capture your movie as a dv-avi file which MM2 can edit.

Thank-You, Randy & Graham for the helpful information. I'm on my way to buy a
IEEE1394 cable. Thanks Again!! It's nice to know there are still great
people out there in the world..............
