video driver

I came home to an enlarged screen that looks like a protective mode. MS has
suggested that I go to the microsoft webpage and check for updated drivers
for my video card. I followed the hyperlink, and as usual, I could not make
heads or tails of the page

First...just try to re-adjust the resolution...
if you can't do that, then reinstall the original video drivers

Never ever, download drivers for your video card from Microsoft (or anything
else come to that). Always get drivers from the card manufacturer.
Microsoft's drivers tend to be generic (if they work at all), whereas the
manufacturer's drivers will support all the features that your card has.
