video card install problem

I bought a new video card and the drivers won't install. Windows xp
recognizes the card, tries to install, and an error comes up "data invalid".
Tried doing the card instructions and install fails and says "install failed,
try starting in vga mode and reinstall". I restarted, hit f8, started in vga
mode, still won't install. Tried getting drivers from the diamond mm and ati
sites, tried installing in safe mode, still won't install. Installed the card
on a different computer and it worked. My old card works fine. tried
reinstalling driver.cab file and sp2.cab file and still won't work. I have no
other ideas. Thanks for any help.

I would try the usual pc maintenance:

1. START RUN CHKDSK /F, restart to run chkdsk.
2. Run Adaware or Spybot Search n Destroy.
3. Update and run virus definitions.
4. Windows Update.
5. Check for sufficient disk space. Uninstall unused programs.
6. Internet Explorer. Delete Files, all offline content.
7. Disk defrag.

Be sure to follow the card munfacturers instructions, particularly the
sequence of uninstalling the old card and software, and installing the new
card and software.
