Graphics gone blockly?

Since my first re-install of XP Home Edition the Fonts have appeared blockly.
I've reinstalled since then but the problem is still there.
It was fine when I first got my laptop from the retailer but since the
re-install it displays them blockly.
Ive tried ClearType and it dosen't fix it and Ive tried updating the
graphics card driver but it dosen't let me and asks me to try using a VGA
Driver then doing it however I have tried boot in VGA Mode and it still didnt
work.

How can I fix this problem?

My Graphics card name and manufacturer are in my signiture.

I don't find this option in IE 6.

I don't have the earlier posts, but font smoothing can be set in your
display settings under appearance...effects. Check the box 'Use the
following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:' and pick 'clear type.'

Its affecting my whole system not IE 7 as I no longer use IE 7 I use Firefox
for web browsing so its my whole system not just my browser.

Perhaps it's a size setting. Display Properties, Appearnace tab, Advanced
button, "Item" drop set to "ICON", see font 'size' drop. It might be too
small for your rez.

Hello,

LCDs have a native resolution, any lower than that, the display will look
washed out.

First, get the latest drivers. By latest, the one that comes with your Dell
PC may not be the latest. Visit www.dell.com 's support and drivers section,
input the service tag and download the drivers.

Second, ensure that the desktop resolution is the same as the native
resolution of the LCD. Normally, it will be the highest available in Display
properties (Settings tab). Try increasing the Screen Resolution notch by
one, hit Apply until you get a black screen, at which point wait for 10
seconds and hit OK.
