video card and monitor

just installed a geforce fx5700 video card, works fine
with desktop but as soon as a game runs screen goes blank
and computer freezes. i found other people having simular
problem and they say its the video card using a refresh
rate not compatable with monitor because of no windows xp
driver for monitor. help.

You can override the refresh rate by going into one of the
options windows of the video card. (right click desktop,
settings, display, advanced, GeForce menu)

i'am having the same problem. The card worked fine up
front then I downloaded the updated drivers off the
windows update page along with the XP svc pack 1 update
and now my computer boots up with these horizontal lines
across the screen and that is as far as I can get. Any
help would be much appreciated.
