video capture

I have a Canon ZR40 hooked to a 1394 connnection. I've
tried capturing in both Movie Maker and VideoStudio 7.0.
They both don't recognize my camera as being attached.
The VideoStudio manual says to make sure the following
are working properly:
-1394 Bus Controller
-61883 Device Class
-AVC Device Class
-DV camcorder
Only the 1394 Bus Controller shows up under my device
manager. Where are the rest? Is this my problem?

Yes, the camcorder just isn't being recognized for some
reason. Maybe just a bad cable?

I recently was playing with my freinds cannon digital
cancorder. When I tryed to use the software that cannon
provided, I was unable to find the cammera under "my
computer", and as long as the software disk was still in
the cd drive. When I removed the disk and uninstalled
their program, windows movie maker worked fine. All I did
was connect the 1394 cable and turn the camera on.
Windows xp stered me to the right place. Or you can go
to "my computer" and double click the camera icon.

I have a similar problem, the camera is only recognized when I restart
the computer. If I turn the camera off or unplug it, it disappears
from My Computer. When I turn the camera back on or plug it back in,
WinXP does not detect it, I have to restart.
