Video capture card

I have a Pinnacle DC10plus video capture card running in Windows XP (After a
lot of problems installing a suitable driver!). Device manager says it is
working OK and using Pinnacle studio 8, I can capture video OK from my
analogue camera. However other video editing trial packages which I have
downloaded, (Roxio & Ulead) simply cannot see the capture board, although
they can see my webcam OK. Being completely new to XP, I may be missing
something.

I don't want to use Studio8 because it has several problems with editing.

Any advice much appreciated.

Geoff.

Are there any limitations with the trial versions or do they run
full-featured?

As far as I am aware they are fully featured but 30 day time limited.

Okay, full featured is good. Trying out software to be sure it works with
your hardware can be a big project. Getting full access to features in the
trial package is a very big plus when I'm shopping.

Have you checked the websites for those programs to see if they document
supporting your hardware? Is that support in the package that gets
downloaded or does it have to be added by installing an additional
download?

Any user support forums available for the products? Keeping in mind that
the folks that are *aren't* having problems don't usually show up in
newsgroups - looking over the general issues in a user forum can be a good
way to learn more about a product's strong points and weak points. If the
group allows posts from trial users, may want to do just that.
