Hi, I have a vga compatablity problem which is affecting my real player and
media centers ability to play dvd or anyother form of video. Dvd's play in
Powerdvd only
other forms of video play in window's media player. In device manager under
other devices has a yellow question mark on it and then under that vga
controller (vga compatable has a yellow question mark with a red check on it.
All this came installed with the computer.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you
Brian S.

Check the hardware manufacturer's web site for the latest Windows XP driver
for your device.

If it's a new computer contact the vendor.
If not, then you can also download and install the latest driver from the
Video card manufacturer's web site (Do not use the drivers from the Windows
Update site) and this may fix the problem.

Did this ever work correctly? If yes, what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

A. Reinstall/update the video drivers. Never get drivers from Windows
Update. Get them from:

1. The device mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer.
2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific
model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers
anyway)
3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc
Advisor. The older Aida32 is good for this, too.

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html - Belarc Advisor
http://www.aumha.org/free.htm - Aida32 (hosted on Jim Eshelman's site)

B. If reinstalling/updating the video drivers doesn't work, uninstall
the card and swap it out for a known-working one. If that solves the
problem, discard the original video adapter. If this is a laptop, you
obviously can't do this and will need to contact the laptop mftr.'s
tech support for repair/replacement.

Thanks for you help. One question I am not sure where to find the
manufacture's name to the video card. I just smart enough to get myself in
trouble sometimes haha if you know what I mean.

You can pop the lid and get the FCC ID number off of your hardware and
identify it here.
http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/

Or use the service tag for dells.

Dave, thanks but I wouldn't know what a video card looks like if it bit me.
My computer is an AMD T6420 do you think they would know?

Dave thank you very much for slapping me up. I was over thinking the problem
i guess it never crossed my mind to look in E-machine's web site. Everything
worked great and all is well.
