Vexing problem with PST file and multiple users

Hi everyone!

I have a simple question that requires a not-so-simple answer, I think. I
have a system with Windows XP Professional and Outlook 2002 that I am trying
to configure for someone else. The system has at least two user accounts in
XP, but not Outlook. I am trying to configure the system for a husband and
wife who are sharing the same e-mail account, but have separate user
profiles as far as Windows XP is concerned. The problem is that when one
user logs onto XP and grabs e-mail, the other person cannot "see" the e-mail
when he/she logs on later.

Now, obviously in order for the two mailbox views to be identical for
different users, I think I would have to point them to the same PST file
location for both users. This runs afoul of the Windows XP file permissions
and gets confusing to set up, at least for me.

Can someone out there help me and detail the steps involved to do this?
What exactly do I need to do to make this work (two Windows XP user profiles
reading the same PST file.)?

I should have mentioned: this is a standard POP3 email box with an ISP.

Mike,
You really need to convince one of them to set up a new email
address. Have them send out the new addy for all to update. Have the old
addy user forward any stray email to the new addy until everyone gets on the
address.

Alternately you can click on tools-accounts and then make sure the account
in question is highlighted then click properties. Click on the Advance
tab-delivery section check Leave a copy of messages on the server and then
check Remove after x number of days. 7 days is a good length of time so that
all they have to do is both check their email once a week and they will each
have all the messages.
