Very WIERD problem when printing ,pdf!

About 1 time in 20 when I print to ,pdf all the text gets squeezed into two
or three characters wide!

My original MS Word file also collapses to 2-3 characters wide (all
characters in one line on top of each other)> It looks this way in normal
view, and page view. In reading view (2 page) it looks normal. And, as I
said, the .pdf file is squeezed, too.
(I'm using Acrobat Professional 8 and Word 2003).
Any ideas?

According to contributor Bob Buckland: "It's a bug that somehow seems to
have Word misreading temporary files related to the printer currently in
use. You can usually 'unscramble' the display from File=>Print and switch
to the printer properties or to another printer then your normal one, or
close Word and delete all files found on Start=>Search and looking for
~$*.*;*.tmp as the name string then restarting Word." See also

Thanks. Your fix works. I also found that if I open the MW Word document
from Acrobat, and choose "convert to .pdf," I get a good output and the MS
Word document is not messed up. But if I am in Word and choose PDF for my
print output , then the problem happens.
