I got this computer from a guy and know. I hooked it up and got it running,
but was running very slow or not at all. He came over and don't know what he
did but when he left it was extremely fast. The next day it was slow again
and it supposed to be running much much faster. PLEASE HELP!!

Well ask Him over again and let him explain what he done what's up with the
machine.
I think you paid for it didn't you?, and you have the right to know which
was the problem and the solution.
or send it back and say thank you and get the money back.
HTH.

Jennifer, it's hard to guess what he did to make the computer go fast
again. What do you think you are doing to make the
computer go slower? Too many programs running at one time? By slow do
you mean Windows XP, the Internet, Games?
All the above? Call and ask him.

I would suggest doing the usual virus/malware/spyware check on the PC you
have just purchased. Even though you might know the person who sold you the
PC, he/she might not know about good protection on a PC so given that you
purhcased the PC, you should check whether there are bad stuff in there.
Here is a free AV and spyware checker to get you started.

AVG Free Anti-Virus

Windows Defender

If you didn't get Recovery CDs and/or documentation on how to do recoveries,
stop right here and get them, or get your money back. You WILL need them
for a lot of things. And add info about your "system" if you want decent
responses; this is way too little to go on.
